Changes revealed by the CAT 2014 test day video
It was announced recently that there will be some changes in the CAT 2014 format and other things related to it. To begin it was notified that students go through the tutorials from the website well in advance as, the tutorial which was made available before start of examination, has been discontinued from this time.
The test day video of CAT 2014 has revealed a number of changes that will the MBA aspirants will see from this year. The CAT examination is to be conducted on the on November 16 and November 22, 2014. The video with the information on the same was launched on October 19 along with the CAT 2014 admit cards.
Listed below are some of the major changes that will be seen in CAT 2014 paper and related things:
Photograph on the admit card
The candidates after printing the admit card on an A4 size sheet and affix their recent photograph on the same. This procedure was not required earlier. It should be noted that without proper admit cards the entry to the exam centre will not be allowed.

The CAT 2014 admit card
The admit card for CAT 2014 is much shorter and simpler than what it has been before. Cutting down on the incessant details, the admit card for this years’ paper will only carry the student’s Registration Number which will also be his Registered User ID. Other than that only the required details will be mentioned on the admit card; including Name, Date of Birth, Birth Category, PWD/DA, Date and Day of Test, Time or Session of Test, Test City and Test Center.
Reporting for the exam
The candidates appearing for the examination will be required to reach the examination centre two hours, which is 120 minutes, before the examination time as compared to the 90 minutes till now. Do take note that late comers will not be allowed to take the test. This would mean that test takers for the morning 9:30 batch will be required to reach the venue by 7:30 and the ones appearing for the afternoon batch are expected to reach by 1:00 as the test begins at 3:00.
Inhibited articles strictly not allowed
Until now the CAT organizers had only been giving a fair warning of not to bring articles like mobile phones, stationary items apart from the ones required for the test, notes, eatables to the exam centre on the day of the test. For the ones who did, a storage facility was provided keeping the convenience of the students in mind. Since the 40 session 20 day schedule has been reduced to a 4 session 2 day schedule so providing a storage facility will not be possible.
Only use the mouse
The has been made very clear in the CAT 2104 test day video that the candidates are only to use the mouse while marking of the answers. In case a student touched the keyboard then the system will be locked down.
Pen for rough work only
The CAT aspirants will be allotted sheets for rough work which will need to be handed over to the invigilator at the end of the examination. Keeping the same in mind, the use of pencil and erase inside the CAT testing lab has been prohibited and only pens can be used for the purpose. Moreover, the students will be required to mention their names, registration numbers, and system numbers on the rough sheet.
