NITs announces Direct Admission to Students Abroad (DASA) for PG Engg Courses 2016

Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) 2016 invites application for admission to Post Graduate Engineering Programmes (M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan/M.Des/MURP& MBA) in NITs, IIEST, IIITs, SPAs, Central Universities and Other Centrally Funded & Premier Technical Institutes

The admission to Foreign Nationals/Persons of Indian Origin/ Non-Resident Indians in premier Technical Institutions is being offered under DASA scheme of MHRD from the academic session 2001-02 onwards.

MHRD has entrusted the coordination of the admission process under DASA scheme for the academic year 2016-17 to NIT Srinagar

DASA 2016 PG Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit: There is no restriction on age limit. Date of bith as recorded in the Secondary Education Board /University Certificate (Class X or equivalent) or any certificate issued by the Govt. authorities only

Academic Eligibility: Candidates must have passed the qualifying exam i.e., Four/Five year undergraduate program in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in relevant discipline for M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan/M.Des/MURP and an appropriate UG degree for MBA program from any system of education recognized as equivalent by the AIU/UGC/AICTE/Other statutory bodies as applicable

Must have secured a minimum of at least 60% aggregate marks or 6.50 CGPA on a 10-point scale or equivalent in the qualifying exam
In case, CGPA on a different scale is awarded OR if only grades are awarded, percentage/CGPA equivalence provided by the principal exam authorities will only be considered. Applicants appearing for the qualifying exam in the academic year 2015-16 and expecting their final results latest by 15th September 2016 may also apply

Some M.Tech Programs have special conditions for eligibility, which are listed on the DASA Website. The applicant has to check these conditions and he/she will be responsible for satisfying these conditions (and);

Must have a valid minimum total of 300 GRE Revised General Test Score (Verbal+Quantitative) for eligibility for M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan/M.Des and minimum of 480 GMAT Test Score for MBA Program

If GRE was taken prior to 01st August 2012 a valid minimum score of 1200 (Verbal+Quantitative) is required. GRE test score has to be sent directly through ETS to NIT Srinagar (Institute Code: 7188). GMAT Score is also to be sent directly from GMAC to NIT Srinagar (Institute code: Z9T-N7-50)

GRE and GMAT test scores received till 30th June 2016 only will be considered for preparation of merit list

Residential Requirement

Applicants must be Foreign Nationals, PIOs, OCIs who have completed UG Program in any country (including India) (OR)

Indian Nationals who have completed their UG Program outside India (OR); Indian Nationals who have acquired NRI status and holding it for the last three years after obtaining undergraduate degree from India (OR)

Indian Nationals who have completed undergraduate program in any CFTI under the DASA Scheme (OR)

Indian Nationals who have completed UG Program in India but have completed their 11th & 12th standard (or equivalent) from outside India

Application Procedure

Registration Fee and First Semester Tuition Fee: US$ 2,300 (Non-refundable registration fee of US$ 300 and first semester Tuition Fee of US$ 2,000)

Candidates Eligible for Tuition Fee Waiver: US$ 1,350

Who is eligible for Tuition Fee Waiver: 50% Tuition Fee waiver will be offered to Foreign Nationals who are nationals of SAARC countries. They will be eligible for the waiver only if they have passed the qualifying examination in any one of the SAARC countries

Payment Mode

Through SWIFT Transfer to ICICI Bank as specified or E-Payment through Debit/Credit Card

All refunds will be through SWIFT transfer only. The applicant should submit online the request for Cancellation of Application/Allotment/Admission for DASA 2016 and refund remittance particulars

All eligible refunds will be processed as per DASA-2016 policy after the admission process is over

Submission of Application

The submission of application is a two-stage process, both of which are essential
a. Online application (https://www.dasanit.org) and submission of required documents online (scanned and uploaded). No hard copy of application or supporting documents needs to be sent
b. Submission of GRE/GMAT score, as applicable. GRE test score has to be sent directly through ETS to NIT Srinagar. GMAT Score is also to be sent directly from GMAC to NIT Srinagar

Online Application
The Online process involves the following steps:


Click on DASA 2016 Postgraduate admissions link at www.dasanit.org Create an account by entering the following details to register:

i. Email ID (valid email ID to which a web link will be mailed to complete the registration process)

ii. Captcha words (in the space provided)

iii. Once correct details are entered, click Create my account

iv. An email will be send to your email address with a link to complete the registration. Check your email and click the weblink

v. Enter Applicant ID (given in the email)

vi. Enter Password (preferably a combination of uppercase, lowercase, number and symbol to be chosen by the applicant)

vii. Confirm Password

viii. Once correct details are entered registration is complete

ix. Applicants are advised to note the Applicant ID and password for future logins (for completing the application form and checking the status of the application etc) and to keep it confidential

Last Date for Receipt of GRE/GMAT General Test Score: 30th June 2016

Announcement of First List of Selected Candidates: 04th July 2016

Confirmation by First List Candidates: 04th July to 11th July 2016

Announcement of Second List: 13th July 2016

Confirmation by Second List Candidates: 14th July to 18th July 2016

Reporting to Allotted Institutes: 20th July to 25th July 2016
