Indian Maritime University B.Tech Lateral Entry Admission 2018 - It is proposed to fill the seats available for the B Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering); B.Sc. (Nautical Science) & B.Tech. (NA & OE) Programs being conducted at Kochi & Visakhapatnam Campuses for Academic Year 2018-19 through Lateral Entry Scheme (admission into 3rd Year &2nd year)


The duration will be three academic years consisting of six semesters of coursework. For details of the program and fees please refer to the academic brochure for 2018-19 available at www.imu.edu.in

Eligibility Criteria

2nd Year B.Tech (Marine Engineering)

  • Candidates with at least 55% marks overall in 3 years Diploma in Marine /Mechanical/Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Eng. (OR) 4-years Diploma in shipbuilding Eng. from any Institute approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education and a minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th/12th/Diploma Exam
  • Candidate should have completed the diploma within its stipulated duration of 3 years

Age Criteria

  • Minimum age 18 years and Maximum age 25 Years
  • Crucial date to calculate the age will be from the date of commencement of the Academic Session

Relaxation for SC/ST candidates(if any)

  • There will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks; however, it will not apply to English Marks. Maximum age relaxation is for five (5) years

2nd Year of B.Sc. (Nautical Science)

  • 1-year Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) programme with 60% marks overall and a minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th/12th Examination

2nd Year B. Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering)

  • Candidates with 60% marks in 4-year Diploma in Ship Building Engineering from the Institute of Ship Building Technology, Goa (or); 3-year Diploma in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering from the AMET University, Chennai[or]
  • 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Civil Engineering from any Institute approved by AICTE and a minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th/12th Exam. The candidate should have completed the diploma within its stipulated duration of 4 years or 3 years as the case may be

Age Criteria

  • Minimum age 18 years and Maximum age 26 Years

3rd Year B.Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering)

  • B.Sc. (Ship-building and Repair) with at least 60% marks overall and a minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th/12th Examination. The candidate should have completed the degree within the stipulated period of 3 years

Age Criteria

  • Minimum age 19 years and Maximum age 27 Years
  • The crucial date to calculate the age will be from the date of commencement of the Academic Session

Relaxation for SC/ST candidates (if any)

  • There will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks; however, it will not apply to English Marks. Maximum age relaxation is for five (5) years

 

Semester Fees

  • The Semester Fees depending upon the Program – will normally include some or all of the following: Tuition Fee (inclusive of Library Fee, Laboratory Fee, Workshop Fee, Industrial Visit Fee, Extracurricular activities Fee, Medical Fee, etc.), Mess Charges, Lodging Charges, Hair-cut Charges, Laundry Charges, cost of Uniform, cost of Books and so on
  • They do not include the interest free, one-time Caution Deposit of Rs.20000/- collected at the time of admission
