The results of the UPSC Special Class Railway Apprentice Exam (SCRA) 2014, held earlier this year on January 12, will be announced by the end of March, confirmed UPSC SCRA officials during a conversation with a leading Indian magazine.
The SCRA happens to be one of the most popular examinations administered by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Meanwhile, the answer key for the exam is likely to be made available on the official UPSC portal within the next few days.
The written exam comprised three papers of 200 marks each, including: Physical Sciences, General Ability and Mathematics. The maximum time allowed for each individual paper was two hours. In order to discourage guess work by candidates, UPSC also enforced negative marking against wrong answers.
Successful candidates who clear the written test will be invited for a personality test wherein they will be evaluated based on their initiative, leadership capability, physical and mental energy as well as intellectual curiosity. Maximum marks allotted for the interview is 200.
The objective behind the SCRA exam is to select deserving candidates for the Mechanical Department of the Indian Railways. All candidates who qualify the personality test will require going through a four year training program during which they will also earn a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (under Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi).
UPSC has announced that the total number of vacancies for which the score card of SCRA will be considered is 42.
