University Grants Commission (UGC) through CBSE Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) may be conducting its most sought after ‘UGC-NET Exam’ national eligibility test once a year, Human Resource Development – ‘HRD Ministry’ seems to be in harmony to the proposal. HRD minister Prakash Javadekar indicated as much, “The attendance in UGC-NET is very low. We will make a formal announcement (of making the exam an annual affair) soon,” the minister said.

UGC-NET exam will now be held just once a year by CBSE till the time a National Testing Agency is in place. UGC had made plea to the HRD ministry to seek permission to hold the UGC-NET examination of 2017 to simply be conducted once a year instead of twice; the HRD after great analysis and thought seems to be under sense of concurrence. this could lead to UGC NET examination being held annually.
Earlier, CBSE told to continue to conduct UGC NET, and CTET twice a year till the proposed National Testing Agency is set up and takes over.

CBSE gets only 5 months preparation time for each test through the annual system it will get more time.
Main function of the CBSE in regulation of school /college establishments seemed to suffer.
The attendance marked in exams like UGC-NET is hardly 40% of the registered candidates

The candidates did not take it seriously as they were given two opportunities in the year for the same thing.
