UGC issues necessary guidelines for DU’s 4 year B. Tech Programmes

A recent press release issued by the University of Delhi on June 27, 2014, confirmed the withdrawal of the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) as per the directives of the University Grants Commission (UGC).

However, students who were earlier admitted to the various 4 year B. Tech. programs under Delhi University for the academic session 2013-14 expressed their apprehensions in terms of nomenclature and the duration of their course. To workout viable solutions to the matter, a meeting of the UGC Standing Committee was held June 23, 2014.

Delhi University 4 year B. Tech. programs for students admitted in 2013-2014

Listed below is the course of action recommended by the Committee for students already admitted in the 4 year B. Tech programs under the University of Delhi to ensure that such students do not face any sort of prejudice.

  •  The various colleges under the University of Delhi can continue with the 4 year B.Tech. Programs in Computer Science, Electronics, Food Technology, Instrumentation, Electronics and Polymer Science, provided they are covered under section 22 of the UGC Act. B. Tech may continue in these programs specifically for the students already admitted to the academic year 2013-14.

The colleges under Delhi University, which admitted students in the academic year 2013-14 for the above mentioned programs, were directed to obtain the necessary approval from the regulatory bodies such as the UGC and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to ensure that the students admitted to the four year courses are not put to any disadvantage.
