University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked all affiliated universities to all possible action necessary for the semesterisation of course curriculum and grading system. UGC’s directive has come at a time when many states have stepped up to embrace choice based credit program in colleges and universities from the forthcoming academic session.
“The DU Vice-Chancellor has constituted a seven-member committee to give its recommendations on the implementation of the choice-based credit system,” Joint Registrar (Academics), Ram Dutt said.
The university and the colleges can take action against those in the job for the past five to 10 years if they have been provided opportunities to fulfill the requirements and yet failed. VNSGU had not given a single PhD admission in four years and is yet to frame rules based upon the UGC guidelines

Disabled friendly and barrier free environment usually includes ramp, lift, washroom facilities that can accommodate wheelchairs and more. In addition, the court also asked the Pune University to instruct all colleges, exam centers, departments and educational institutes affiliated to fetch similar facilities to all disabled students.
Keeping the same in mind UGC has issued a notification to vice chancellors of all universities asking them to consider adopting the same in order to strengthen the uniformity and bring out more transparency in the system.
The applications will be available from October 15, 2014 on the official website (cbsenet.nic.in). The application will be submitted online online and the last date for submitting applications for NET will be November 15, 2014. CBSE will be conducting the UGC NET in 79 subjects at 87 selected NET Coordinating Institutions spread across the country.
Smriti Irani, HRD Minister had passed the order to scrap the FYUP, a decision which was opposed by the students, teachers, BJP and the Left. Following which UGC had directed the colleges to put an end to the FYUP and start admitting students only to the three year programme. It was also asked to finish all the existing four year degrees in the three year designated time.
The results for the December 2013 NET examination can be downloaded as soon as they are released and uploaded by UGC on their official website. You can download the result using your Application Number, Roll Number and Date of Birth from the result section on the official UGC NET website.
Gajanan Kharate, Faculty Dean, Pune University’s Engineering spoke to the media and informed that the move has been influenced by Supreme Court’s April 13 judgement that reduced regulatory powers of AICTE in favour of the UGC. As per Kharate, students who have qualified GATE are receiving a scholarship of Rs 8,000 per month from AICTE. However, with the change in regulatory authority, UGC might re implement the scholarship scheme for students with ME or MTech degree.
