Following the debut of the Open Text Book Assessment for students class IX and XI, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is now planning to bring open book exams to class X and XII.
CBSE to include formulas on question papers to help those bad with rote learning in the Open Book Exam System. CBSE already introduced OTBA (Open Text Based Assessment), or more commonly referred to as the Open Book Exam for students of Class IX and XI
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) asked all affiliated schools to grant 30-min extra to Class IX and XI students appearing in March 2014 final exams, especially for the OTBA.
The Central Board Secondary Education (CBSE) said that it is embarking on a new “ open book exam system ” approach of conducting exams, arguing that ROTE learning in today’s context has turned into an obsolete method.
The Central Board Secondary Education (CBSE) has made available the text and pictorial material where the question paper for the proposed Open Text Based Assessment will be prepared from.
