Two panels appointed by the Union Human Resource Development Ministry and JEE Apex Board have forwarded various arguments to recommend that the NITs should scrap the 40 percent weight age of the board. 31 National Institutes of technology (NITs) are in favour of dropping the weightage of board and admit the students on the basis of merit in JEE advanced. The government is yet to take a final decision on the issue.

Engineering aspirants will have Common Seat Allotment Process for IITs and NITs from 2015 though a single, unified website. Candidates’ ranking in both JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced) will be considered during the online seat allotment.

The online application for JEE Main 2015 has begun from today; November 07, 2014, for registration in UG programmmes in NITs, IITs and other centrally funded technical institutions.
The last date for completing the online registration process is December 18, 2014. The examination fee at the time of registration can be paid either through debit card/credit card or through E-challan generated on successful completion of the application.
Even though students from both the states are perplexed over their fate in the national exam, they are still in a state of uncertainty regarding the outcome of separate tests.
