Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will not conduct National Eligibility Test (NET) in June due to work overload. The UGC sources have confirmed that it will conduct NET on its own if there are no alternatives.
UGC has decided to give permissions to PSUs to use the NET result database for the recruitment
The applications will be available from October 15, 2014 on the official website (cbsenet.nic.in). The application will be submitted online online and the last date for submitting applications for NET will be November 15, 2014. CBSE will be conducting the UGC NET in 79 subjects at 87 selected NET Coordinating Institutions spread across the country.
The decision to hand over the reins to CBSE was made because UGC has been ill-equipped to conduct the examination on the nationwide front. The decision had been lurking in the corridors for more than a year now and its face was decided by a meeting of the full commission. If things are to go as planned, there is a huge probability that the upcoming December 2014 NET will be conducted under the watchful eyes of the CBSE.
