CBSE asks schools to reduce the weight of school bags

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a notification asking schools to lessen the weight of school bags by adopting various measures including lockers in schools and reducing reference books. The CBSE has advised the schools to restrict the number of text books to the prescribed norms of the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT), particularly at the primary and upper primary levels.

CBSE advises schools to stick to NCERT books

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has urged schools affiliated to it to stick to National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) textbooks for all classes. The CBSE took this step after receiving complaints from parents that they were pressured by schools to buy an excessive number of textbooks other than the NCERT ones.

All CBSE books to be made available online – HRD Minister

Union HRD minister Smriti Irani, who was inaugurating a new Kendriya Vidyalaya building in East Delhi, announced that “All CBSE books to be made available online for free” for the benefit of students and academic schools. The minister revealed that NCERT books have already been made available online for free (in the form of e-books and mobile apps).

CBSEs decision to alter Class XII physics syllabus flusters students

There has been an uproar amongst the teachers as well owing to the last minute changes brought around by these additional sub-topics of theory paper even thought the board has made these theory papers available online. Most teachers are also of the belief that theses last minute changes are going to hamper the student’s preparation for the board exams which are not too far off. They said that text of new topics would be hard to obtain for students who have no access to laptops or computers at their residence reported the Times of India.

Only NCERT books to be taught in CBSE schools

In Bhopal, similar measures were taken by Nikunj Shrivastava, the ex district collector to prevent the monopoly regarding the sale of books. Department officials have also admitted to the fact that parents had to bear the cost of unnecessary private books due to the lack of strict controlling.

CBSE looking into the NCERT Class XI and XII Biology book corrections

AS per the complaint that the students have been bringing forth on the Errata that has been uploaded by the NCERT on their website is that although the some corrections had been made, to the errors which had been brought forth, but they are still to be properly indexed. This has created confusion on the topics which have been edited and the inability of the students to look them up.

No check list for corrections in Class XI and XII NCERT Biology books

Goyal, who is the petitioner, says that the student may not be able to profit from this as the AIPMT is only days away and there is still a lot to be done. Moreover there is no record or check list for students to refer to and this way it is very difficult to keep track of the changes that have been updated.

Syllabus for MH CET 2014 creates confusion amongst students

It is being stipulated that if the MH-CET-2014 is a state level examination then so should be the syllabus. In this case the paper to be conducted should be based entirely on state board books and that is how the students have been preparing for it for the past some months. The recently released syllabus and information states that the candidates preparing for the paper need to follow NEET syllabus, which is further more based on the NCERT pattern.
