The recent Supreme Court order to RETEST the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) 2015 will also lead to a delay in the counseling of medical aspirants who qualified the Common Entrance Test and Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK).
The decision by the KEA was made public earlier this week on Tuesday and according to reports, addition of new seats has been made in the streams of engineering (1,212), dental (133) and architecture (51). However, a press note from KEA confirmed that none were added to the medical stream.
The first rank in all the four streams – medical and dental, Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy (ISHM), B.Sc. Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences was secured by Girija Agarawal of the Narayana PU College. The top marks in engineering, architecture, B Tech (Agriculture) and pharmacy was scored by Srinidhi Prabhu, a student from the same institute.
The HC delivered the judgment while hearing a number of petitions filed by BDS students. Justice Anand Byrareddy, the honorable judge in the one-man bench, observed that usually entrance tests are for determining seat allotment when the number of applicants exceeds the total available seats.
