“The offer to these four students was for a take home of $150,000, or close to Rs 93 lakh per annum. Along with other incentives and perks, the size of the package was more than Rs 1 crore yearly,” said chairman of the IIT-Kanpur placement cell, Prof Deepu Philip.
New reports have revealed that an IIT Kharagpur student was offered a pay package of INR 1.5 crore during this year’s campus placement.

The common merit list featured 19,416 students, 6,000 were in OBC (NCL), 4,400 in SC category and 1,250 in the ST merit list.
According to reports available in the public domain, only 4,079 of the total 6,591 sanctioned posts have been filled. That’s only 62 per cent of the actual requirement. Worse still, a lot of these faculty positions are being held by teachers on adjunct, visiting or contractual agreement.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, GATE 2014 scorecards has been sent off to the addresses mentioned by the candidate at the time of application for the examination. Students need to keep in mind that no additional scorecard for the examination will be issued. The card can be tracked by the students for progress by just logging to the official website and entering the enrollment id and password.
A total of 10,33,625 aspirants had registered for GATE-2014 examination out of which 86.02 per cent appeared, which means a total of 8,89,156 candidates appeared for the examination. On the basis of the qualified marks only 16.84 per cent will be receiving the scorecards for GATE 2014, which means 49,694 students. This year was the first for the GATE examination to be conducted through an online mode for all 22 papers.
GATE is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India for admission to Master’s degree programmes in Engineering/Technology/Architecture as well as for Doctoral programmes in relevant branches of Science.
