The Supreme Court has removed the age cap of 25 years for National Eligibility cum Engineering Test (NEET) 2017. The Court has also extended the last date for NEET 2017 up to April 5, 2017.
A bench of Supreme Court said that age limit for NEET cannot be fixed by a notice on the basis of instructions issued by Medical Council of India.
This year NEET is scheduled to be conducted by the CBSE on May 7, 2017. Earlier the last date to apply for NEET 2017 was March 1 which has now been extended to April 5 by an interim order of Supreme Court.
The Apex court also said that if CBSE needs any logistic support for having additional centres in any area, the district collector or the commissioner of the city will extend all the support in order to conduct the examination on the fixed date.
The court also restrained the High Courts from interfering in the matters like choice and allocation of centres for NEET 2017. If any order has already been passed by a high court, the CBSE is bound by the orders of Supreme Court only.
