The admission to postgraduate courses in seven universities of Haryana will get tougher with the introduction of Joint common entrance examination. The universities have agreed for online applications and centralized admissions to postgraduate courses.
The candidates will now have to write a multiple choice common entrance test which will have a section of general knowledge. The test will be conducted in the last week of May or first week of June 2017.
Around 1.5 lakh students are expected to apply for the Common entrance exam. There will be three rounds of counselling and the candidates will be allotted universities on the basis of their rank in the entrance exam. After the online counselling, physical counselling will be held by the universities.
Kurukshetra University will hold the exam for commerce, management, social work, journalism, law, political science and public administration, English, Hindi, history, geography, physical education and psychology. The entrance exam for pharmaceutical sciences, life sciences, chemistry, physics and mathematics will be conducted by Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak.
The admissions for other subjects will be carried out by universities at their own level. The idea of entrance exam is to save students from the inconvenience of applying to various universities for admission.
