The Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, has decided to set up multiple centres across the state to conduct the Punjab PMET 2016 exam, scheduled for May 15 this year.
Last year, the Pre-Medical Entrance Test (PMET) was conducted at only one centre across the state of Punjab. The PMET 2015 which was only conducted at Lovely Professional University (Jalandhar) in the month of May had triggered protests and delay in the examination due to huge traffic jams on the roads. Consequently, a large number of candidates could not reach the centre on time.
Looking at the feedback of last year’s examination, multiple centres have been decided to set up in the larger interest of the medical aspirants.
Dr Raj Bahadur, Vice-Chancellor, BFUHS, said they would conduct the PMET examination at four centres across the state. These four centres are likely to be Amritsar, Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Faridkot. Due to lack of facilities, the PMET would not be conducted online.
Every year, more than 15,000 medical aspirants appear for Punjab PMET for admission to near about 2,000 MBBS and BDS seats in different private and government medical/ dental colleges in the state.
