Panjab Private Medical Colleges have brought forward the want of their own entrance examination for the 2014 session. The petition was taken to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, who have subsequently issued a notice of motion to the state government for a reply before April 02, 2014.
Justice G S Sandhawalia is the presiding court head in the case of the petition put in by the Private Self Financed Dental and Medical Colleges Association. The proposal for the same has already been rejected once, last year, for the courses in all medical and dental colleges as allowed by the Supreme Court in the “Priya Gupta versus the State of Chhattisgarh” case in May 2012.
As per the arguments of Kumar Vishav Aggarwal, the petitioner’s lawyer, the Supreme Court had given the option to private medical colleges to conduct their own entrance test.
Last year, on November 07, 2013, as per the advertisement disseminated by the Punjab Government in newspapers, the admissions to MBBS and BDS courses for 2014 session were to be conducted on the basis of merit in the CET, AIPMT/ AIPGDE 2014.
The petitioner has also challenged the government’s notification which was released on December 19, 2013, according to which the admission to PG dental courses for 2014 session by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, will be through centralized counseling on the merits of the All-India Post Graduate Dental Exam (AIPGDE)-2014.
