You may be aware about the online entrance test for PG Medical Course (PGMET 2015) by Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS).
The authorities of Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences in Andhra Pradesh are planning to provide admission to post graduate courses in medicine (Medical PG) through online entrance test in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana from 2015.
The aim to introduce this new reform is to get away with the loopholes of pen and paper exam pattern which provides the scope for exam paper leakage and mass copying, causing troubles in the PG Medical admissions.
The permission has been given to the university’s proposal to conduct online entrance test for PG Medical admissions in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana by the Andhra Pradesh Medical and Health department.
“Learning from our experiences last year, we don’t take any chances this year. The government has given permission to conduct online test. With this we can put a check on the loopholes and bring in more transparency and accountability in the conduct of admission test,” said an official to Pharmabiz at the NTR Health University.
The demand for Post graduate Medical course is increasing rapidly in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and the seats available are limited in both the states. There are about 2200 PG medical seats for which 18000 MBBS students from both the states are competing. Considering this as an advantage gangs and fraudsters mislead the students and indulge in various illegal methods.
Last year, the PG Medical entrance exam in the state was cancelled by the AP government and re-exam was conducted as it witnessed a big controversy due to leakage of exam paper. The issue came to light when a few failed MBBS students got top ranks in the Medical PG test. With this trouble the admission to PG course was delayed in both the states.
