Even though the merit list for admission to MBA and MMS programs in Maharashtra’s state-run business schools was announced a week ago, those who qualified are still waiting for the date for the Centralized Admission Process (CAP).
The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), the body responsible for overseeing the entrance test and admission process, had issued the merit list for the MAH-CET (Maharashtra Common Entrance Test) for MBA and MMS programs on June 6, 2015. More than 57,000 candidates had appeared in the online entrance test for admissions to somewhere around 42,300 seats.
“The delay in declaration of dates for CAP rounds has kept aspirants puzzled. The DTE should have declared the dates along with the merit list. It has come up with an entire schedule for undergraduate engineering admissions, for which an entrance test was conducted almost a month after MAH-CET,” Jaymeen Thakkar, an aspirant, said, as reported by the Hindustan Times
Thakkar added, “As there is no clarity about the dates for CAP rounds, many students have begun to enroll for PG Diploma in Management (PGDM) courses. While PGDM courses will commence from the third week of this month, students will not receive a complete refund of fees and may lose around Rs30,000. The DTE should give relief to these students regarding the rules for refund of fees.”
Meanwhile, DTE officials maintained that the CAP schedule would be announced within the next few days. “We will come up with the schedule for CAP rounds in few days. Most likely, it will be announced on Monday (June 15). There was a delay because of the court cases demanding re-test and grievances related to minority quota seats. Students do not need to worry as their problems will be addressed by the DTE,” said DS Meshram, joint director of DTE.
