MANF Scholarship Criteria changed – University Grants Commission or UGC has released a notification in regard to change in MANF Scholarship criteria. According to the UGC notification, all candidates belonging to one of the minority communities who is enrolled for full-time research programs with UGC NET or CSIR-NET can apply for the scholarships now.
The first notification released by UGC had prescribed qualifying “CBSE-UGC-NET/JRF/CSIR-NET/JRF held in December 2017 and June 2018” as criteria for the scholarship. CSIR NET is conducted for the Science students while UGC NET is organized for the students belonging to Humanities background
The change in criteria was brought in after students and student’s organization questioned UGC’s logic in choosing only two editions of NET exams that too only for CSIR NET, as criteria for awarding these scholarships.
UGC has invited applications for the award of Maulana Azad National Fellowship or MANF Scholarship for minority students for the academic year 2018-19. The objective of the MANF scheme is to provide integrated five year fellowships in the form of financial assistance to students from minority communities, as notified by the Central Govt. to pursue higher studies such as MPhil & Ph.D. at Indian Universities/ Institutions/Colleges.
The last date to apply for Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students is December 31, 2018.
