The Mah-MBA /MMS-CET exams were conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra on March 15 and 16, 2014. It has been confirmed that the results will be declared on April 21 followed by the centralized admission process. Students who pass the exams qualify for admission to post graduation management degree MBA/MMS and PGDBM/PGDM courses in Government, University and Unaided Institutes of Maharashtra. A large number of A grade colleges fall under this examination.
However, students who qualify through the tests have to sit for additional three rounds before the final round which will be based on counseling. The final merit list after the process of document verification will be published in June 21.
The government of Maharashtra re- introduced ‘Mah-MBA/MMS-CET’ in the state to help the institutes located in the peripheral and rural areas to admit more students. Last year, over 40 percent of the total 45,000 plus seats had remained vacant. The Mah-MBA/MMS-CET exams are more popular in Maharashtra over the Common Admission Management test which is conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education. Rules like no provision for group discussion and personal interview have made the tests very popular among young aspirants in the rural and sub urban parts of Maharashtra. Any score above zero is also sufficient for students to secure a seat through the state wide merit list. Such provisions have really made the exams a puller attraction over CAT, MAT and other management tests. Also, the 15 percent outside Maharashtra state quota seats can be filled by candidates of the state.
This year, a large number of students have appeared for the exams as compared to the availability of seats.
