Several Legal consultations are being held over the Supreme Court’s order on National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) which states that NEET will be the only gateway to undergraduate medical and dental admissions throughout the country.  Phase 1 of NEET has already being conducted and the final decision will be given in two days.

There are three main issues which came after the top court’s decision on NEET; the conducting of state entrance exams, the difference in the syllabus of state exams & NEET and the issue of language.  The reason for bringing NEET for medical and dental admissions was to check the corruption and malpractices in undergraduate Medical admission

Maharashtra to offer online coaching for NEET

If NEET II stays, Maharashtra government will start the online coaching for NEET in a few days. The Maharashtra education minister Vinod Tawde told the media that special coaching will be offered to the  students via cable TV, Doordarshan, YouTube as and a formal website for students who want to appear for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). 

The Minister said that Power Point Presentations have already been prepared and videos sessions will also be delivered. The website material has also been approved and it will be published soon.  The PPT’s, videos and website content will be made public after hearing a final word from the centre.


There is a possibility of an ordinance from the central government for deferring the NEET exam by a year as a number of objections are raised by the students and states against the Supreme Court’s decision on NEET making it mandatory for undergraduate medical and dental admissions.

Once the final decision on NEET comes forth, the online coaching will be started in Maharashtra, said the education minister of the state.

Private colleges not exempted from NEET

The private medical colleges shall not be exempted from National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).  The government is planning to offer a grace period only to the State Government colleges for the existing session 2016-17.

CM Fadnavis requests PM Modi to intervene in NEET 

The Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has requested the Prime Minister to intervene in the matter of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and apprised him of the difficulties faced by the students.He has added that students have to prepare the two years’ CBSE syllabus in just two months in order to clear the said examination. He has requested him to appeal in the Supreme Court against it’s order on the said examination.
