The Medical aspirants in Kerala may need to appear in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for admission to MBBS and BDS courses as the state government may drop the Kerala Medical Entrance Test this year. According to the sources, the state govt. will take a decision regarding medical admissions in the cabinet meeting scheduled this week.
The notification for the State Professional Entrance will be released soon and the information brochure for KEAM will be released on the CEE website. No hard copy of the information brochure will be released from this year onwards.
Earlier in April, the Supreme Court made the NEET mandatory for MBBS and BDS admissions that created uncertainty on the conduction of state entrance test. Afterward, the Centre came up with an ordinance that deferred NEET by a year. The ordinance stated that states could hold their own Common Entrance Test for undergraduate medical and dental admission for this year.
Now the Kerala government may drop the state entrance test and make the MBBS and BDS admissions only through NEET.
