Delhi University (DU) is planning to conduct its entrance examination for admission to postgraduate courses, MPhil and PhD online from this year onwards. Since EC is the highest statutory body of Delhi University which approves new policies and amendments, The entrance test will be held online as per the Executive Council’s (EC) resolution.
DU offers over 50 post graduate courses. The entrance exam held for these PG courses is basically for students outside of DU. Almost 50 per cent seats are reserved for the candidates undertaking the entrance test while the rest are reserved for DU students, that is, those who completed under graduation from DU itself.
Minimum of 55 percent is required for clearing the entrance test and thereby seeking admission in various PG courses.
DU students require 60 % marks in under graduation to get admission into DU PG Courses.
The online entrance test to be conducted would have objective-type questions which would be asked in both Hindi and English. The exam will be held in three shifts.
DU itself would not be conducting the online entrance exam. A private organisation would be holding the test and declaring the results as well. Conducting and implementing of the entrance test, however, lies with the examination department. DU had called for online bids for the entrance exam to be conducted in at least 18 cities.
This proposal for online entrance exam for various PG courses was proposed last year, but got delayed.
