Delhi University faces protests against online entrance test

No online entrance test for Delhi University due to students protests

Delhi University is facing protests by the student organization- Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad(ABVP) against the online entrance test has put the university into a difficult situation. Delhi University may not hold the entrance test this year for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
The Delhi university admission process is expected to start in the mid of May 2017. The ABVP members expressed their opinion against the Delhi University decision in a meeting of admission committee that conducting an online test would put a large number of students from the marginal background at disadvantage.
ABVP wants the university to continue with the system of written form of examination. A large number of students from rural areas apply for admission, who will not get a chance to appear in the entrance exam if conducted online.
Delhi University is planning to outsource the process of online entrance test the tenders for which have already been issued. The ABVP members said that admission committee should give both choices of online and offline mode of exam and that too in only the Delhi centers of examination. This will provide every student a chance to appear in the exam.
The university has a limited time to decide on the entrance test; and with the continuous protests by the right wing students organization; the varsity is unlikely to conduct the online test this year.
