The slackness of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE) in conducting the compulsory Central Teachers Eligibility Test (CTET) has put more than five lakh aspiring teachers in a fix.

The students are facing problems in getting a teaching job in government schools such as the Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya schools and government aided schools, due to the delay.

The CTET test which was earlier held twice every year, has not been held for 14 months.
Students are complaining that they have been waiting for months for the CTET exam to take place. KVs are recruiting but these students cannot apply coz they have not been able to appear for the exam
The last exam was held in September 2016. Around 6.5 lakh aspirants appeared for it.
The CTET was introduced in the year 2011 for primary and secondary school teachers and every student who aspires to become a teacher has to pass it.
