CBSE to use hand-held metal detectors at exam centres

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will use hand held metal detectors to frisk candidates at examination centres. The CBSE is taking this measure to ensure that no incidents of mass cheating occur during professional entrance exams.

The Board has also been entrusted the responsibility by Govt.  of  India  &  other  Bodies  to  conduct  Professional  Competitive  Examinations  and Eligibility Tests i.e. JEE Main, AIPMT, UGC NET & CTET, JNVST etc. The Board in order  to check use of unfair practices through electronic devices  by the candidates  in professional  examination  has decided  to  frisk  candidates  before  entering  the  examination  centre  for  detection  of bugs/devices  by use of  highly sensitive hand held bug/ metal detectors.

The CBSE has floated a tender with a desire to procure approximately 8,000 devices. These will be used at the centres in at least 52 cities across the country.
