CBSE NET National Eligibility Test attract 3.75 lakh applicants

The online registration system for CBSE National Eligibility Test (NET)  earlier conducted by UGC has attracted approximately 3.75 lakh applications from candidates across the country.

This happens to be the first time when the CBSE has been assigned the responsibility of administering the examination. The last date to apply online for the exam was November 15. See CBSE NET  December 2014 notification

“Last year, there were about five lakh applications,” says J K Yadav of CBSE. Yadav also added that two additional exam centers – one each at Solapur (Maharashtra) and Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) – were allotted this year.

The online application page had been functioning normally for the first few days before shutting down on November 4. The sudden technical glitch left many aspiring candidates worried. However, the page was back online once again by the next morning.
