The anxious wait among medical aspirants is finally going to be over as counselling for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2016 commenced on Monday, August 22.
As per the schedule, the main counselling registration choice filling and indicative seat will take place till August 25. There are two rounds in the counselling session, of which round-1 will see seat allotment to aspirants through the central quota whereas the state quota will come into action during round-2.
This two-phased counselling will be held in Uttar Pradesh as the state government has chosen to embrace NEET in state medical colleges unlike a number of other states.
Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand High Court has asked the CBSE and the Nainital police to file a status report highlighting the progress in the exam paper leak investigation. According to reports, the court will be hearing the matter on September 5, 2016.
Earlier, a plea was filed in the Uttarakhand High Court by Anshul Sharma, a NEET aspirant from Rajasthan seeking the judiciary’s intervention in the case so the investigation is done thoroughly. The plea also called for the cancellation of the CBSE NEET 2 exam.
However, CBSE has maintained that the attempted leak was based on false assurances to candidates that they would be able to pass the exam by way of illegal means.
