The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that pre-exam counselling for students and parents will commence on February 02, 2015.
CBSE rolled out the pre-exam counselling initiative in the late 1990’s with the vision of helping students and their parents cope with exam related stress. It is a carefully designed program that takes into account the heterogeneity of students’ population and geographical spread.
“Multiple modes of communication such as telephonic counselling, question answer columns in newspapers and online counselling through CBSE website are used to reach out to more and more examines during this phase,” CBSE said in a statement.
These services for this current exam season will be available till April 02, 2015.
“This year 72 principals, trained counsellors from CBSE affiliated government and private schools and few psychologists will participate in tele-counselling and address exam related psychological problems of the students,” CBSE announced.
It further added that 62 of the counsellors are from India whereas 10 are located in other countries such as Nepal, Oman, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Kuwait. To avail this service, students can dial a toll free number 1800 11 8004 from anywhere in the country.
There is also a separate provision for helping especially abled children to better handle their needs and anxiety.
