CBSE bans recommending books other than NCERT

For the relief of parents of students studying in the private schools, CBSE has issued a circular prohibiting the recommendation of books other than the NCERT in private schools. According to the complaints received by the CBSE board, some private schools asks children and their parents to buy textbooks other than NCERT.

CBSE recommends only NCERT books for curriculum

Prescribing too many textbooks and forcing children and their parents and to buy them is an unhealthy practice. NCERT text books are the base for preparing test items in Board examinations and the CBSE question papers are set according to the prescribed syllabus of the subject.

The NCERT books for Classes I to XII are available free of cost at epathshala.nic.in and the publications by the CBSE were available free of cost at the e-cbse portal at www.cbse.nic.in. CBSE has also directed its affiliated schools to share this information with the students and their parents so as to let then avail the benefits of this facility.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Parents Association (PPA) has called off its protest to be held at Bhandari railway over the bridge from 3 pm to 6 pm today after the request of Punjab Police.
