CAT 2017 Mock Test on the portal exam pattern, marking scheme changed

 
CAT 2017 Mock Test has been released by IIM Lucknow for the upcoming MBA CAT Exam 2017.
 
The CAT Mock Test 2017 is now available on the official website iimcat.ac.in. This test is of great help to candidates to get an idea of what the main exam would be about that particular year. It provides a glimpse of the exam pattern, format and style of the question paper.
 
There are some major changes brought about by CAT 2017 Mock Test in the exam pattern and format. The changes given below are very important for all candidates appearing for CAT 2017. The test is dominated by MCQs and there is a reduction in the number of non MCQs. the number of answers available for MCQs have been increased. The aspirants will also have be more careful while planning the number of questions to attempted in case of negative marking, as there is a prominent change in the scheme of marking.

Non MCQs / TITA Questions reduced drastically
 
A very noticeable change n the Mock Test 2017 is that the numbers of Non MCQs / TITA Questions have been reduced noticeably. The Non MCQs are the descriptive type of questions that do not carry negative marking for a wrong answer.  
 
Changing Trend of the Questions
 
In the year 2017, the total number of MCQs is 19, where as in 2016 it was 25 and in 2016 it was 28.
 
The total number of MCQs from VARC has remained the same at 10 in all three years
 
Number NON MCQs from DILR are 4 in 2017 and were 8 in both 2016, and 2015
 
Non MCQs from Quant have decreased over the years with 10 in 2015, 7 in 2016 and 5 in 2017
 
It is clearly notices that the number of non MCQs have consistently been reduced over the years. As compared to 2015, in both DILR and Quant they have been cut down by almost 50%.
 
Answer Options increased in MCQs
 
The answers available for MCQs have been increased in number. This is an alarming change for students. Before this the candidates only had to deal with answer-specific options in CAT Exam, this year the mock test is carrying MCQs that have non –answer specific options as well. These include options such as ‘non applicable’, ‘non determinable’ and ‘none of these’. This can put the candidates in a fix by not giving any specific answer option for the multiple choice questions. Now there are 5 options available and not 4 as before.
 
Prominent Change in marking and scoring pattern
 
There is a significant change in the scoring pattern as well. Nn 2016 the MBA entrance exam a liner 1 mark question format but in MOCK TEST 2017 all MCQs and non MCQs would carry 3 marks each. Also the negative marking format for wrong answers for MCQs has also been changed from last years -1/3 to -1 mark
 
Login system different for CAT Mock Test 2017
 
On the day of the exam November 26, the candidates will be assigned new login id and password by the invigilator. Earlier the candidates were able to login directly by using their registration id and password, but this will not be continued any more.
