The CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has announced that class XII students, whose board examination schedule clash with the dates of JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) Mains 2014 computer based exams, can now be allotted alternative JEE mains examination dates. The last day of submission has been extended to the March 25, 2014 from the earlier deadline of January 17, following requests from the student community.
Students who wish to avail of this facility are required to submit a copy of their Class 12 admit card with their JEE Main 2014 application number by email to the given JEE Mains email id by the March 25, 2014. Candidates may note that only applications sent by email will be entertained.
The JEE Mains, conducted by CBSE is a series of entrance test for admissions into undergraduate engineering and architecture courses across the country. Of the total candidates appearing, the top 1.5 lakh students also become eligible for the JEE Advanced exam, which is used for admission into the most prestigious technology institutes in the country, the IIT’s.
The JEE mains examination is conducted both in online and offline (pen and paper) formats, with the traditional format being far more popular among candidates. Of the total 13.56 lakh candidates who have applied for JEE mains 2014, only around 1.7 lakh have applied for the online based exam format. Two papers are held under JEE Mains: Paper I for B Tech and Paper II for B Arch. However, paper II for B Arch is only available in pen and paper format.
