Apex Court stays all proceedings on IIT admissions in AP High court

iit2Apex Court stays all proceedings on IIT admissions in AP High court

The Supreme Court of India has stayed all the proceedings in the Andhra Pradesh High Court related to admissions in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) which had directed the premier institute not to fill four seats which were offered to students from the state but were denied on the ground of poor percentile.

The appeal was filed by the organising chairman of JEE Advanced2013, IIT Delhi, seeking stay of the interim order contending that the High Court completely ignored the terms and conditions of the JEE.

The four students had contended before the high court that the prescribed condition of successful candidates being within “top 20 percentile of successful candidates in class 12th examination conducted by the respective boards in applicable categories” was arbitrary and unreasonable.
