AICTE informs diploma holders need not appear for JEE Main

The AICTE informs that the candidates who have taken various polytechnic or engineering diploma programmes from various State Boards of Technical Education and have completed their engineering/ architecture/ pharmacy diploma programmes from AICTE approved institutions with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) are eligible for admission to the second year of the 4 year degree Engineering/ Pharmacy and 5 year Architecture programmes respectively through lateral entry.

Such a candidate need not appear for any entrance examination as well as need not appear for JEE Main Exam.

It also informs that if a diploma level candidate wishes to be admitted to the first year of a 4 year Engineering/Pharmacy program or 5 year Architecture programme and if he also possesses a class 12th Certificate, then he is eligible on the basis of class 12th Certificate.

Therefore, any polytechnic/engineering diploma holder candidate has passed class 12th also from a board between year 2011 to 2013, he should immediately update his class 12th information on the JEE website https://jeemain.nic.in through the link “Confirmation of class 12th/Qualifying Examination Details” by selecting the board, year of passing and roll number, failing which it will be assumed that he is a diploma holder and will not be treated eligible for admission to B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Arch./ B.Planning as per above guidelines of AICTE.
