Abide by New Web Rules Or Face Action, CBSE Tells Schools

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced that it will take action against any affiliated school that fails to comply with its new Web rules.

According to the guidelines set by the board, each school must develop their own website and upload annual reports by September 15. Also, each school website are required containing sufficient information about the school and its management.

Despite emphasizing repeatedly that these guidelines are mandatory, the board has noticed that several schools are yet to take necessary actions to abide by them.

“The information to be provided by schools on their websites includes affiliation status, details of infrastructure, names, experience and designations of teachers, class-wise enrollment of students and details of members of the school management committee.

However, many schools have very poorly-maintained websites. Besides, most are yet to upload important details on their websites,” said a CBSE official.

The official also added that to fulfill these guidelines with due diligence will ascertain that the schools are granted an NOC by the state government.

“In the proforma given by CBSE, every school has to furnish details of the facilities provided by it. This will help parents choose the schools for their wards. Moreover, the telephone numbers of the officials of the grievance redressal cell, details of the free structure, library facilities and particulars of the teaching staff should also be available on websites. Due to non-availability of these details, many parents fail to know the details of the schools ,” the official mentioned.

Sanjib Das, regional officer, CBSE (Guwahati zone), warned that proper action will be taken against any school found to have not doing enough to adhere to the CBSE guidelines.
