Raising a question mark on the quality of education in the Punjab state dental colleges, only 60% candidates were able to clear the 4-year BDS course exit exam in 2015. A student is eligible for internship only after clearing this exam. It means 40% students in Punjab dental colleges fail to qualify for internship.

As per reports, out of the 487 candidates, only 289 managed to clear the BDS course exit exam. The results of the exam which was conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (Faridkot) were declared on December 31.

A university official revealed that this year the pass percentage has come down due to strict measures adopted to check copying and unfair means in the exam. The university is committed to improve medical education standards, and they have tried their best to ensure smooth and fair conduct of the examination.

On the other hand, a BDS pass-out student said that the government needs to pay attention towards the infrastructure and quality of education in the BDS colleges. The colleges must be held accountable for poor results.
