2016 will see revision of CA curriculum-Report

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is preparing to renew the curriculum for Chartered Accountants (CAs) from the 2016 academic session, new reports revealed.

According to ICAI officials, the new syllabus is likely to be based on the changing requirements of the industry and its regulators. The core idea of this revision of CA curriculum is to ensure that ICAI can successfully meet the growing demands of the fast expanding global economy.

It has been a decade since the last revision of curriculum for CAs. The draft of the proposed new syllabus has already received approval from the concerned authorities.

With promising career prospects, chartered accountancy happens to be one of the most affordable and highly popular professional courses in India today. Approximately 8.52 lakh students are currently pursuing it at pan India level.

ICAI, the statutory body regulating the CA profession in India is recognized all across the world. The new syllabus, according to ICAI officials, will also encompass the new aspects of chartered accountancy in a changing global economy. Because Indian CAs are high in demand across several countries in the West as well as in the Middle East, ICAI plans to induce all those qualities in the coming generations of CAs that can help them make it globally.

It is worth mentioning here that last year during campus recruitment, a large proportion of the new CAs bagged lucrative offers from several Indian as well as overseas companies.

Now ICAI is planning to set up many more branches across the country to mentor all aspiring CAs. To promote and encourage the institute in an effective way, ICAI conducts two campus recruitment programs every year during the months of Feb-March and August-September.

Another popular program offered by the ICAI is the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) certificate program. There are over 10,000 students in Kerala alone who are currently pursuing this program.
