DR. Ambedkar Pre & Post Matric Scholarship (DNTS) Chandigarh 2017
Dr. Ambedkar Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship for the year 2017-18 has been announced by the Education Department, Chandigarh Administration, for students belonging to Denotified tribes (DNTs) who are permanent residents of UT, Chandigarh.
A scheme of Pre-matric Scholarship would be helpful in spreading education amongst such children especially amongst the girl child of weaker sections

Objective of the Scheme
The Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNTs) have been at the peripheries of the society for a long time. While benefits of reservations, scholarships etc. were available to SCs/STs/OBCs, no such welfare schemes are available for the welfare of these DNTs i.e. those who are not covered under SC, ST or OBC
The Scheme is for bringing about a focused intervention on these classes so that they are empowered socially and economically and their lives are also improved
The scholarship schemes will be for individual beneficiaries not covered under any scheme
Eligibility
Those Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, (DNTs) whose family income is less than Rs. 2.0 lacs per annum will be eligible for awarding the pre matric scholarship and post matric scholarship
Scholarship Rates
The objective of the Scheme is to improve educational empowerment of the DNTs who are not covered under SC/ST/OBC category. The rates of the Scholarship are:
Pre-Matric Scholarship:
1. Class I to VIII Rs. 1000 per student for 10 month
2. Class IX to X Rs. 1500 per student for 10 month
Post-Matric Scholarship:
Group I (i) Degree & Post Graduate Level Courses in Medicine (Allopathic, Indian and other recognized systems of medicines), Eng., Technology, Planning, Architecture, Design, Fashion Technology, Agriculture, Veterinary & Allied Sciences, Mgt., Business Finance/Administration, Computer Science/Applications
(ii) Commercial Pilot License (including helicopter pilot and multiengine rating) course
(iii) Post Graduate Diploma Courses in various branches of Mgt. & Medicine.(iv) C.A./I.C.W.A./C.S./I.C.F.A etc.(v) M. Phil., Ph.D. and Post Doctoral Programmes (D. Litt., D.Sc. etc.), Group I, Group II and Group III courses
(vi) LLM
Hostellers – 1200
Day Scholars – 550
The income limit of Rs. 2 Lakh per annum (i.e. combined income of husband and wife) will be valid for the purpose of identification of DNT beneficiaries
Group II: All other courses leading to a graduate degree not covered under Group I & II eg. BA/B Sc/B Com etc
Group III: All post-matriculation level non-degree courses for which entrance qualification is High School (Class X), e.g. senior secondary certificate (class XI and XII); both general and vocational stream, ITI courses, 3-year diploma courses in Polytechnics, etc.
