West Bengal NTSE 2019 – West Bengal Department of School Education has announced the State Level National Talent Search Examination NTSE for the year 2019

Scholarship Details

  • Organisation: West Bengal Department of School Education

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students of class X of any affiliated and recognized school of WBBSE / WBBME/ ICSE/CBSE in West Bengal securing 50% and above marks [40% and above marks for SC/ST/OBC (as per Central Govt. norms)/Physically Disabled Candidates] in the Final Exam of Class IX are eligible to appear at State level NTSE 2019
  • Students who have registered under Open Distance Learning (ODL) under NIOS/West Bengal Council of Rabindra Open Schooling and secured 50% and above marks in the pre-10th level exam[40% and above marks for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Disabled Candidates] will also be eligible
  • The student is not employed, and he/she will appear at class 10th level exam for the first time

 

Selection Process

  • Stage-I, selection will be done by States/ UTs and those who qualify Stage-I, will be eligible to appear for Stage-II examination, conducted by NCERT

Exam Pattern Stage-I Exam

  • State level Examination will be conducted in two sessions on the same day as per details given below
  • Mental Ability Test (MAT) -100 No. of Questions; 100 No. of Marks; Duration: 120 Minutes
  • Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) – 100 No. of Questions; 100 No. of Marks; Duration: 120 Minutes

Syllabus

  • Subject – There is no prescribed syllabus for NTS Examination. standard of items shall conform to the level of class IX and X
  • (1) Mathematics (2) Physics (3) Chemistry (4) Biology (5) History (6) Geography (7) Political Science (8) Economics
  • All questions in the booklet for Stage-I Exam are objective type. Each question carries one mark. There is no negative marking in the said examination

Qualifying Marks

  • Qualifying marks for candidates from General Category is 40% in each paper and for candidates from SC, ST and PH is 35% in each paper
  • Language Test Qualifying in nature and marks obtained for Language Test will not be counted for final merit

  • The completed application form should be signed by the Principal of the School much before the last date of submission. The candidates as well as the Principal of the school must adhere to the last date for submission of the Application Form. Different states may have different last dates for submission
  • Please confirm from the liaison officer of your state, the address at which the completed forms are to be submitted
  • It may be noted that OBC candidates under Non-Creamy Layer of income group (as per Central Govt. norms) and also belong to OBC category of Central List will be treated as OBC for this exam

Fees Details

  • States and Union Territories may notify the fee required which will be paid for the Stage-I exam. Therefore, before submitting the application form, you may find out the fees charged for Stage-I exam and also the mode of payment from the respective State Liaison Officers (LOs)
