Age Limits

Minimum and Maximum age for admission will be 17 and 35 years. There is no age bar for ANM/LHV



1. Candidates should have passed one of the below mentioned qualifying  examinations with aggregate marks of 40% for General Category, Dependents of Defense/ Para Military Personnel and 35% for SC candidates.

i. 10 +2 class passed preferably Science (PCB) and English with aggregate of 40% marks.




ii. 10+2 in Arts( Mathematics, biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy) and English core/ English Elective or Health care Science - Vocational stream Only, Passing out from recognized Board under AISSCE/CBSE/ ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board with 40% Marks



iii. 10 + 2 Vocational ANM under CBSE Board or other equivalent board from the school and recognized by Indian Nursing council with 40% marks.




iv. Registered ad ANM with State Nursing Registration Council



v. Students Qualified in 10 +2 Arts or Science Examination or Health care Science- Vocational stream only conducted by national institute of Open School with 40% Marks


2. Candidates should have passed Hindi/Punjabi up to Matric standard


3. Student shall be, medically fit.


4. Student shall be admitted once in a year


Selection Procedure:

Only limited candidates will be called for the Admission on the basis of merit (Marks secured by the candidates in 10+2 Examination) To start with the candidates having Physics, chemistry and Biology will be considered for admission. If the seats remain vacant, candidates having Physics, Chemistry and ANM/LHV/ Health care Science (Vocational stream only) will be considered. Candidates with Humanities and Arts Subjects will be considered for admission last of all.


Inter-Se Merit - If two or more candidates obtain equal marks in the 10+2 Examination then the inter Se-Merit for admission to the course shall be determined on the basis of the following


i. candidates with higher marks in science subjects with biology.


ii. Candidate possessing lesser attempts for passing 10+2 examination.


iii. If the marks obtained and attempts made in passing 10+2 examination or other qualifying examination are also the same then a candidate senior in age shall rank in senior to the candidate who is junior in age.


iv. If the marks obtained, attempts made and age is same then candidates possessing more marks in aggregate will be considered higher in rank/merit list.



Application for admission to the course is required to be submitted on the prescribe form enclosed with the prospectus along with prescribed fee of Rs. 300/- for General Category and Rs. 150/- for S.C. reserved category in the form of demand draft in the name of Director Principal, Govt. Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh.


Category of reservation should be clearly written on the top of the application in prescribed column without cutting overlapping. No Further change of category will be allowed.


Application complete in all respects must be accompanied with self attested photocopies of all relevant documents.

3. Passing certificate of 10+2 or other qualifying examination


4. Details marks sheet of 10+2 or other qualifying examination


5. Reserved category certificate i.e. Scheduled Caste, Dependents of Defense/Para-military Personnel, Freedom Fighters certificate issued by the competent authority.


Attached two self Address envelopes 23X10cm bearing postal stamp of Rs. 5 each with application form



Candidates according to the merit in 10+2 or other qualifying examination in each category will be called for counselling and the number of candidates called for counselling will be three times of seats in each category.



List of selected candidates/ waiting on the next day of counseling would be displayed board of School of Nursing, Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh.

The same will also be displayed at the website of GMCH, sector 32, Chandigarh.


Fee Structure

Annual Fee (including Tuition fee, Clinical Charges, Amalgamated Funds etc: Rs. 35000/-

Hostel Fee including Room Rent, Water: Rs. 4800 Annually

Electricity charge: Rs. 400/- per month

Mess Charges: Extras as per actual
