Chettinad College of Nursing invites Applications from eligible candidates for admission to Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree course for the session 2017-18

Chettinad Academy of Research and Education (CARE) is notified as a Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 in the year 2008 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of India, New Delhi

Eligibility & Courses

I. Bachelor of Science (Nursing) [Duration: 4 years including internship]

Intake: 100

Eligibility: Candidates should have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology) (PCB) and English Individually and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks taken together in PCB at the qualifying exam i.e., (10+2) from the recognized board

For the candidates belonging to SC/ ST or other backward classes (OBC), the marks obtained in PCB taken together in qualifying examination shall be 40%

Minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought

II. Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing [Duration: 2 years]

Intake: 50

Eligibility: Candidates should have passed the Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary of Intermediate or 10+2 or an equivalent exam recognized by the university for this purpose; those who have done 10+1 on or before 1986 will be eligible

Candidates must have obtained a certificate in General Nursing & Midwifery and registered as R.N.R.M with the State Nursing Registration Council. A male nurse, trained before the implementation of the new integrated course besides being registered as a nurse with State Nurses Registration Council, shall produce evidence of training approved by Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of midwifery in any one of the following areas:

O.T. Techniques

Ophthalmic Nursing

Leprosy Nursing

TB Nursing

Psychiatric Nursing

Neurological and Neuro Surgical Nursing

Community Health Nursing

Cancer Nursing

Orthopedic Nursing

III. M.Sc. Medical Surgical Nursing (Cardio Vascular & Thoracic Nursing) [Duration: 2 years]

Intake: 20

Eligibility: Candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered midwife of equivalence with any state Nursing Registration Council. The minimum education requirements shall be the passing of B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing/Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with minimum of 55% aggregate marks

Candidates should have B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing /Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Degree from an institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council

Minimum one year of Work experience after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing/B.Sc. Nursing; 5% relaxation of marks for SC/ ST candidates

Selection Process

I. B.Sc. Nursing

Selection of the candidates will be based on the marks secured in the Entrance Examination and the marks obtained in the qualifying examination taken together

Entrance Exam is scheduled to be held on 03rd September 2017 (Sunday) from 10.30 am to 12.00 noon in the Administrative block, Chettinad College of Nursing

II. Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing & M.Sc. Nursing

Candidates will be called for counselling in the order of merit list based on the marks secured in the qualifying examinations. Selection will be based on the merit list and personal interview

Application along with Prospectus can be obtained on Payment of Rs.200/- made through Demand Draft drawn in favor of "Chettinad Academy of Research and Education", payable at Chennai

The form can be obtained in person/through post/may be downloaded from the University Website www.chettindhealthcity.com, if the form is downloaded, the completed form must be accompanied by a demand draft as per the above instruction

Candidate must apply in the prescribed application form downloaded from the website, filledup application can be submitted along with the requisite fees, and self attested true copies of the documents/testimonials

The application form must be filled up by the candidate in his/her own handwriting and signed at the appropriate column

Incomplete Application will be summarily rejected

Last date for receipt of filled in application is extended up to 28th August 2017
