Duration of the Course

For MBBS: The Course of Studies leading to award of the MBBS Degree lasts a minimum of five and a half academic years (including one year of compulsory rotatory internship) and is subject to the rules and regulations of the MCI

For BDS: The Course of studies leading to award of the BDS degree lasts a minimum of five academic years (including one year of compulsory rotatory internship) and is subject to the rules and regulations of the DCI

Seats Availability

Total Number of Seats for MBBS Course is 150; distribution of seats is as under-

i) For Indian Students - 127*

ii) For NRI/Foreign Students - 23

iv) 5% for (BC)

v) 3% for Orthopedically Handicapped

Total Number of seats for BDS Course is 100; distribution of seats is as under-

i) For Indian Students 85*

ii) For NRI/Foreign Students 15

Eligibility Criteria

For MBBS

No candidate shall be allowed to be admitted to the medical curriculum of first year of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course until:

a) He/she shall complete the age of 17 years on or before the 31st of December 2016

b) He/she has passed qualifying examination as under:

i) The Higher Secondary Exam or the Indian School Certificate Exam, which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam after a period of 12 years study, the last two-years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology & Mathematics (Or);

Any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council for Education Research & Training after the introduction of the 10+2+3 years educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on education;

Note: Where the course content is not as prescribed for 10+2 education structure of the National Committee, the candidates should have undergone a period of one year pre-professional training before admission to Medical Colleges (Or);

ii) The Intermediate Exam in Science of an Indian University/Board or other recognized examining body with Physics, Chemistry and Biology which shall include a practical test in these subjects and also English as a compulsory subject

iii) The pre-professional/pre-medical exam with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, after passing either the Higher Secondary School Exam or the pre-university or an equivalent exam (Or);

iv) The First year of the three years degree course of a recognized University, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in these subjects provided the exam is a "University Exam" and candidate has passed 10+2 with English at a level not less than a core course (Or);

v) B. Sc Exam of an Indian University, provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc Exam with not less than two of the following subjects - Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Biotechnology and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifying exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English

Admission to the MBBS Course shall be on the basis of a competitive entrance test conducted by Adesh University (AUMET-2016)

For BDS

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to BDS Course

a) The duration of the course for the degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) shall be four years

b) A person who has attained the age of 17 years or more on December 31 of the year of admission

c) He/she has passed 10+2 or its equivalent exam and the qualifying exam as a candidate from a recognized institution/university; the 10+2 or equivalent exam will be as per details given below and possessing one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to join the first year class of the course:

(i) The Higher Secondary Exam or the Indian School Certificate Exam which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Exam after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council for Education Research & Training after the introduction of the 10+2+3 years educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on education;

Note: where the course content is not as prescribed for 10+2 education structure of the National Committee, the candidates should have undergone a period of one year pre-professional training before admission to BDS course (O r);

ii) Intermediate Exam in Science of an Indian University/Board or other recognized examining body with Physics, Chemistry and Biology which shall include a practical test in these subjects and also English as a compulsory subject (Or);

iii) The pre-professional/pre-medical exam with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, after passing either the Higher Secondary School Exam, or the pre-university or an equivalent exam; the pre-professional /pre-medical exam shall include a practical test in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and also English as a compulsory subject (Or);

iv) The first year of the three years degree course of a recognized University, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in three subjects provided the exam is a "University Exam" and candidate has passed 10+2 with English at a level not less than a core course (Or);

v) B. Sc Exam of an Indian University, provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc Exam with not less than two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology) and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifying exam


Selection Procedure

For MBBS Course

a) Candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology & English individually and must have obtained a minimum 50% of marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology as the qualifying exam and in addition must have come in the merit list prepared as a result of such competitive entrance test (AUMET-2016) by securing not less than 50% marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together

b) Provided further in respect of candidates belonging to scheduled casts or the Backward class the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together in qualifying exam and competitive entrance test (AUMET-2016) be 40% instead of 50% as stated above

c) Provided that the eligibility criteria for admission to persons with locomotors disability of lower limbs - will be a minimum of 45% marks instead of 50% taken together in qualifying exam and competitive entrance test (AUMET-2016) for admission in MBBS courses

For BDS Course

a) The BDS Course will be on the basis of a Competitive Entrance Test (AUMET-2016); a candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying exam and in addition must have come in the merit list prepared as a result of such competitive entrance test by securing not less than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in the competitive exam

In respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST or OBC the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying exam and competitive exam be 40% instead of 50%

b) In case some seats are left vacant then the admission to the BDS course will be on the basis of qualifying exam, based on merit. The candidate for admission to BDS course must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English individually and must have obtained a minimum 50% of marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at the qualifying exam

In respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST or OBC the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together should not be less than 40% instead of 50% and must have passing marks in English

c) Provided that a candidate who has appeared in the qualifying exam the result of which has not been declared, he may be provisionally permitted to take up the competitive entrance test and in case of selection for admission to the BDS course he shall not be admitted to that course until he fulfills the eligibility criteria

Procedure for Online Application Form for Adesh University Medical Entrance Test (AUMET-2016)

Online Application Form for Entrance Test (AUMET-2016) must be filled before due date i.e. 15th May 2016 along with the fee detail in the shape of Demand Draft in favour of Registrar Adesh University payable at Bathinda of Rs.5000/- (Rs.3000/- for SC candidates) on account of Prospectus and entrance test fee

After filling the Online Application Form along with the detail of bank draft the candidate is required to get the print out of the filled online application form put full signature and thumb impression on the provide space and submit the same to the university by 18th May 2016 preferably by hand or through Speed Post/Regd Post
