RCC Thiruvananthapuram Admission to PG Super-Specialty Courses 2016-17

Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram invites applications from eligible candidates for admission to the following Post Graduate Superspeciality Courses for the academic year 2016-17 commencing on 01st August 2016 at the Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram.

RCC - Trivandrum

The Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram (RCC), now in its 34th year of service to the nation is an autonomous institution sponsored jointly by the Govt. of Kerala and the Govt. of India. It is an internationally acclaimed centre for cancer treatment and research and caters to the population of the state of Kerala and adjoining parts of Tamil Nadu.

Last Date for Completing Online Application: 21st May 2016

Downloading Admit Cards: 30th May 2016

MCQ Entrance Examination: 20th June 2016

Challenging questions: 21st June 2016 (12.00 noon)

Publishing of Short List of Candidates for Interview: 28th June 2016

Date of Interview: 08th & 09th July 2016

Date of Final Result: 09th July 2016

Date of Commencement of Course: 01st August 2016

Courses Offered

M.Ch Surgical Oncology: 06 Seats [04 for Merit & 02 for RCC Service Quota]

DM Medical Oncology: 03 Seats

DM Pediatric Oncology: 02 Seats

* If there are no qualified RCC candidates, the seat will be given to Kerala Govt./Govt Autonomous Service; if neither qualifies the seat will be filled up from general merit

Duration of the Course

Duration of the course shall be three years from the date of commencement of the course will be 01st August 2016. Students will be provided stipend as per the Institution's norms and MCI regulations

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should have satisfied the following conditions:

i) Should be an Indian Citizen

ii) Should have passed the PG Degree (MD/MS) from any of the Medical Colleges in India, recognized by the Medical Council of India or DNB from an institute in India, approved by the National Board of Exams, New Delhi

Basic Academic Qualifications

i) MBBS Degree recognized by the Medical Council of India

ii) Appropriate Post Graduate Degree (MD/MS) recognized by the Medical Council of India; or appropriate DNB of National Board of Exams, New Delhi

Appropriate Post Graduate qualification required for applying for the course will be MD/MS/DNB in the subjects noted below:

M.Ch Surgical Oncology: MS/MD/DNB in General Surgery/ENT/Obstetrics & Gynecology / Orthopedics

DM Medical Oncology: MD/DNB in General Medicine/Pediatrics/Radiotherapy

DM Pediatric Oncology: MD/DNB in Pediatrics

iii. Candidates should have their MBBS and PG Degrees registered permanently with Medical Council (India/State)

Note: Candidates who have appeared or are appearing for the MD/MS/DNB exam may apply but the provisional or permanent PG Degree certificate should be produced at the time of counseling if selected

Age Limit

Upper age limit is 40 years, as on 30th April 2016

Age relaxation of 5 years is applicable to all SC/ST candidates and RCC in-service candidates. Age relaxation for Kerala Govt. Service candidates will be as decided by the Govt. of Kerala

All candidates should qualify in the entrance exam conducted by the Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram and Kerala by securing minimum marks at the 50% in the MCQ exam

In case of candidates belonging to SC/ST and OBC (Socially and Educationally Backward Classes) the required minimum marks in the entrance exam shall be at the 40th percentile and in case of candidates with locomotor disabilities of lower limbs between 40% and 70%, the required minimum marks shall be at the 45th percentile

Persons with visual and hearing disability and loco-motor disability involving upper limb are not eligible for admission

Fees for RCC Trivandrum Courses:

1) Tuition fees Rs 350,000/- per annum

2) Caution Deposit Rs 10,000/- (refundable)

3) Exam fee - is as applicable to Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur

4) The tuition fees for in-service candidates will be as fixed by the Govt of Kerala

Scheme of Exam

There will be separate exam for the M.Ch (Surgical Oncology), D.M (Medical Oncology) and D.M (Pediatric Oncology) Courses

For each examination, there will be one MCQ paper with 120 questions to be completed in 120 minutes. Each correct answer will fetch one mark and each wrong answer will result in minus half mark (negative mark)

Regional Cancer Centre DM/M.Ch Question Paper:

M.Ch (Surgical Oncology): General Surgery, Surgical Specialties, General Oncology and Surgical Oncology topics at the Post Graduate level

DM(Medical Oncology): General Medicine, Pediatrics, Medical Specialties, General Oncology and Medical Oncology topics at the Post Graduate level

DM (Pediatrics Oncology): General Pediatrics, Pediatric Specialties and Pediatric Oncology topics at the Post Graduate level

For each question, four suggested responses will be given as choices A,B,C and D of which only one will be the most appropriate answer; the candidate has to select and darken the circle corresponding to the most appropriate response in the answer sheet provided

All entries in the answer sheet including darkening of circles should be done using Blue/Black Ballpoint Pen only

Examination Centres

Online Entrance Exam will be conducted on the prescribed date at prescribed cities -Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi and Kolkata in accordance with the MCI guidelines

Duly completed application must be accompanied with a Demand Draft payable at State Bank of Travancore, Medical College Branch, Thiruvananthapuram for Rs.3000/- drawn in favour of "Director, Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram"

No TA/DA will be given for appearing for the entrance examinations
