NIMS Super Specialty Entrance Test NIMSET-SS-2016 for DM & M.Ch Admissions - Vacant Seats

Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad has invited applications from eligible applicants of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States to fill-up vacant seats in DM - Clinical Pharmacology and M.Ch. - Cardiothoracic Surgery for the year 2016
The candidates belongs to other than Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States are also eligible to apply the courses subject to condition that un-filled seats will be allotted to them in order of merit, if the eligible candidates are not available from the above States

Courses offered & Number of Seats Availability

DM - Clinical Pharmacology (03 Seats) - Duration: 3 years; Qualification: MD/DNB in Pharmacology
M.Ch - Cardiothoracic Surgery (03 Seats) - Duration: 3 years; Qualification: MS/DNB in General Surgery
*Relevant post graduate degree recognized by MCI or its statutory equivalent; **Seats are under process for recognition by Medical Council of India

Eligibility

Candidates who have passed MD/MS/DNB examination from Medical Colleges recognized by MCI are eligible
No condonation of training period shall be accepted unless approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI) along with submission of necessary proof. The condonation certificate must be submitted along with the application form.
The candidates who have already registered for any regular course at NIMS and would like to apply for admission to another course shall resign from such Training/course in the Institute duly fulfilling the conditions of the bond and failure to do so may render their application liable for rejection

Selection Procedure

Selection will be made based on the performance of the candidates at the entrance test. A candidate has to secure a minimum of 50% of marks to qualify for admission into the course
Merit list will be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidates in the Entrance Examination. Separate merit lists will be prepared for each subject
In case of equality of marks in the entrance examination, the following criteria shall be adopted for fixing the merit of the candidates
i. A candidate who passed MD/MS/DNB in the first attempt or with less number of attempts will be given preference
ii. If there is still a tie, the candidate who secured higher marks in Final MBBS exam (Part-I and Part-II) will be given preference



Scheme of Entrance Test

The entrance examination shall be conducted at the venue, date and time specified by the institute in hall ticket. Hall tickets for the entrance exam shall be available for printing to eligible candidates whose applications are complete and accurate in all respects on or after 25th August 2016 onwards
The entrance examination consists of 90 multiple-choice questions (basic and clinical) in the concerned specialty carrying 90 marks to be answered in 90 minutes duration
Candidate should write the OMR answer sheet serial number in the question booklet and return it to the invigilator at the end of exam

Pattern of Multiple Choice Questions: (MCQs)

In addition to standard, multiple-choice questions (MCQs), questions of "Assertion and Reason" type and "multi-response combination" type as illustrated below may also figure in the exam to test the depth of a candidate’s knowledge

The local area reservations are made as per the procedure described in the Annexure IV of the GOP 646 dated 10th July, 1979 and may be seen at www.nims.edu.in

The eligible candidates may apply 23rd August 2016, 05.00 PM and to attend for Entrance Exam at 10.00 am on 27th Aug 2016
Selected candidates should be prepared to complete admission formalities by 30-08-2016 and to attend classes from 30-08-2016
Candidates belonging to states other than Telangana & Andhra Pradesh are also eligible to apply the courses subject to the condition that unfilled seats will be allotted to them in order of merit if the eligible candidates are not available from the above States
