IGMCRI notifies NRI/NRI sponsored/OCI for MBBS Admissions 2017

Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute (IGMCRI) Puducherry invites applications from the NRI/NRI Sponsored/OCI for admission to UG (MBBS) Course for the academic year 2017-18


Indira Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute (IGMC&RI) has been established by the Govt. of Puducherry as an institute of Govt. Sponsored Society and is administered by a duly constituted Governing Body headed by the Chief Secretary, Govt. of Puducherry as the Chairman and the Secretary (Health) as the Vice Chairman


The MCI recognized and permitted to admit 150 students for VIII Batch of MBBS and the Institute is affiliated to Pondicherry University which is a Central University established under an Act of Parliament

The guidelines for NRI/NRI Sponsored/OCI admission are as follows:

An NRI student is one who has NRI status. Students who have studied their qualifying exam equivalent to 10+2 of India, from schools or colleges abroad (outside India) will also be considered as NRI student


Candidates should fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria to seek admission under Non Resident Indians (NRI) Category


Eligibility Criteria

Applicant must have qualified NEET-MBBS 2017


Candidate seeking admission to MBBS course under NRI Quota should have, at first attempt, passed H.SC, Exam (10+2 pattern/equivalent) and must have taken courses in Biology Physics and Chemistry English should be one of the subjects in the qualifying exam. And obtained minimum of marks at 50th percentile in ‘National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test to MBBS Course’ held for the said academic year


Candidate should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together and a minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Chemistry Admissions are done on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying exam


Wherever grades like A,B-C+, etc. are used by the issuing school, appropriate equivalence in terms of percentage like 90%, 75% and 60% should be made available. Rounding off the percentage of marks to the nearest whole number is not permitted


Candidates with foreign qualifications will have to obtain the ‘Equivalence Certificate’ from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi who will equate their qualifications as equivalent to the 10+2 of India. This certificate will have to be submitted at the time of counselling.


The admissions made are provisional and subject to approval by the Pondicherry University, Puducherry and Medical Council of India, New Delhi


Age Criteria

The candidate should have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the year of admission


Selection Procedure

Applicant selection will be made on merit based on all India NEET-MBBS 2017 rank


The order of selection is as follows; preference will be given to candidates belonging to Puducherry Union Territory; NRI sponsored candidates of Puducherry Union Territory; NRI candidates of other region; NRI sponsored candidates of other region; foreign candidates


Application Procedure

Download the Application Form the Website www.igmcri.com and attach the following documents after filing the required details (whichever applicable):


1) NEET exam 2017 qualified certificate


2) Marks card/transcript of the qualifying examination (English Translated)


3) Birth certificate or Proof of certificate for date of birth


4) Copy of passport and VISA to enter the Country (Student VISA, PIO or OCI CARD)


5) Proof of NRI status of student/Spencer


6) Numerical grade (equivalence) certificate of the qualifying exam


7) Recent passport size colour photograph (Two Nos.)


8) Sponsor’s postcard size photograph - one (colour)


9) Certificate showing the proof for blood relationship for NRI sponsored candidate


Application Fee of US $ 200 (or equivalent in INR on the day of application) in the form of a DD/ banker’s cheque drawn in any Nationalized Bank in favour of "The Director, Indira Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute, Puducherry", payable at Puducherry (OR) transfer through net banking to Indian Overseas Bank, Kadhirkamam Branch, Account No: 322001000001111, M/S Students deposits-IGMCRI, IFSC: IOBA0003220, MICR: 605020038 with a copy of the transfer details including candidate’s Name


The filled in application along with the necessary documents should reach "The Convenor, CENTAC, Kalapet, Puducherry, 605014", India
Incomplete application will be summarily rejected
