Annamalai University announces Admission to MBBS BDS for 2016-17 session
Annamalai University has invited applications from eligible candidates for admission to the MBBS and BDS Courses for the academic year 2016-17.

M.B.B.S - 150 Seats (Duration: 5 ½ years including internship)
B.D.S - 80 Seats (Duration: 5 years including internship)
This brochure-cum-prospectus is published for enlightening those who intend to apply for admission to Under Graduate MBBS Degree Programme in the Rajah Muthiah Medical College under Faculty of Medicine and BDS Degree Programme in the Rajah Muthiah Dental College under Faculty of Dentistry of the Annamalai University for the Academic year 2016-17.
Eligibility Criteria for MBBS & BDS 2016
Candidate should be a Citizen of India. Overseas citizens of India who are registered under section 7A of the Citizenship Act 1955 (Central Act 57 of 1955) are eligible to apply for MBBS/BDS Course subject to the production of proof of such registration
i. Candidate should be a Native of Tamil Nadu
ii. Candidates who have studied from VIII to XII standards at schools inside Tamil Nadu need not enclose the "Nativity Certificate"
iii. Candidates who are native of Tamil Nadu but studied from VIII to XII Std. either partly or completely at schools situated outside Tamil Nadu should produce the "Nativity Certificate"
iv. The Nativity Certificate in Tamil Nadu should be issued by the competent authority only in the specified format available in the prospectus (Annexure-VII (b)) and supported by a copy of Passport/Ration Card/Birth Certificate. If the copy of the supporting document is not produced, then the application will be rejected. Nativity Certificate submitted later will be summarily rejected
v. Online Applications without a proper Nativity Certificate will not be considered. Permanent Residence Certificate will not be accepted.
Candidates should have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st of December 2016. (i.e) should have born on or before 31st December 1999. Evidence should be produced
Candidates should have passed in all the subjects of the qualifying exam of the Higher Secondary Certificate Exam (Academic) conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board/any other equivalent Board in one and the same attempt (single sitting) with the following group of subjects and securing minimum eligible marks
(a) Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology (or)
(b) Physics, Chemistry, Biology with any other subject
Candidates who have passed the HSC in the Vocational Stream and private candidates are not eligible to apply for Medical /Dental Courses
Minimum Eligibility Marks
For MBBS Course
Other Communities: (a) A minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together; (b) A minimum of 60% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry; (c) Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 140 out of 200 marks
Backward Class and Backward Class Muslim: (a) A minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together; (b) A minimum of 60% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry; (c) Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 130 out of 200 marks
Most Backward Classes and Denitrified Communities: (a) A minimum of 55% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together; (b) A minimum of 55% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry; (c) Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 120 out of 200 marks
For BDS Course
The candidates (OC/BC/BCM/MBC/DNC) should have obtained not less than 50% of the aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Botany and Zoology taken together at the qualifying exam
For SC/ST - Arunthathiyar and Scheduled Tribe, the aggregate marks required for admission shall be 40%
The minimum marks for the candidates under Orthopaedically Physically Disabled Category - (Locomotory disability of Lower Limbs alone) is as follows (a) OC/BC/BCM/MBC/DNC-45% marks in the above prescribed subjects taken together in the qualifying exam
SC, SCA and ST - 40% marks in the above prescribed subjects taken together in the qualifying exam
Method of Selection & Admission
Ranking will be made on the merit on the basis of marks obtained by the eligible candidates in the Science subjects in the qualifying examinations reduced to the base of 200 marks
The marks obtained through different boards will be taken into account after normalization
Weighted Total Marks for a maximum of - 200
Percentage in Biology (after normalization) - (X)
Percentage in Physics & Chemistry taken together (after normalization) - (Y)
Percentage in Botany & Zoology taken together (after normalization) - (Z)
Weighted total marks for a maximum of - Either (X+Y) or (Y+Z)
Ranking of the candidates will be done based on the total marks obtained in the science subjects after normalization of marks computed to a maximum of 200, as given in the table.
How to Apply
Candidates can also apply through online and Prospectus can also be obtained from the Annamalai University Website www.annamalaiuniversity.ac.in/adm. The guidelines for registration are available on the Annamalai University Website
Candidates can also obtain the application frorm by post from the Registrar, Annamalai University, by sending a requisition letter along with a Demand Draft drawn in favour of "The Registrar, Annamalai University" payable at Chennai for Rs.1500/- which includes postal charges.
Those who are desirous of applying for both the Programs MBBS & BDS should submit separate application form
In case of online application, a Demand Draft of Rs.1500/- should be enclosed along with the filled-in application towards the application fee.
The filled-in downloaded application without Demand Draft will not be accepted
Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of "The Registrar, Annamalai University and should be obtained on or before 08th June 2016 from any Nationaliszed/Scheduled Bank and payable at Chennai.
