UGC NET Exam revised eligibility criteria
The UGC NET Exam 2017 will have certain amendments in the eligibility criteria. The University Grants Commission (UGC) that organizes the NET exam introduced these changes.
A new selection procedure has been devised to prepare the merit list. The analysis included the studying of statistics of the candidates, depending on their category and caste. The amendments to be incorporated in the UGC NET 2017 are
1. There is a proposal to change the criteria where the reserved candidates have a preference in the minimum cut-off list. This gave them an advantage over the Un-Reserved category students.
2. The qualification for the reserved category students giving the UGC NET exam has been changed to 6% from last year’s 15%.
3. There has been no change in the age criteria.
4. The exam will now be held annually instead of twice a year. However, there has not been an official statement for the same.
The National Eligibility Test (NET) 2017 was supposed to be scheduled for July. However, the exam had to be canceled because of a pending court case. The case also delayed the declaration of the result of the previous exam. This led to a lot of anger among the NET 2017 aspirants. The UGC NET Exam 2017 is now scheduled on 19th November
