USET 2017 Exam for appointment of Assistant Professors in Uttarkhand State


USET 2017 is a State Eligibility test which is being conducted by Kumaun University, Nainital. The exam will be held on 29th October 2017. USET is the State Level Exam. The University has released all the details regarding the examination on its official website


The application process for the examination has been started from 23rd August 2017. This is the great opportunity for the students who want to pursue his or her career in Teaching Profession


The USET 2017 Exam will be conducted for the appointment of Assistant Professors in the State of Uttarakhand. The candidates who shall qualify USET 2017 will be able to apply for the post of Assistant Professor in any Govt. or Private University/Institution/College of the Uttarakhand State


Subject & Subject Code

The U-SET will be conducted in the following subjects only


Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Geography, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, History, Education, Psychology, Physical Education, Home Science, Defence and Strategic Studies, Music, Earth and Atmospheric Science, Mathematical Science, Law, Physical Science, Chemical Science, Life Science, Commerce, Computer Science & Applications, Environmental Science, Management, Visual Arts, Philosophy and Library and Information Science


Candidates are allowed to appear in only one subject from the above list. Candidates have to appear for U-SET in the subject of their Post-Graduation only. However, candidates whose post-graduation subject is not covered in the list of subjects may appear in U.G.C. NET/CSIR NET


USET 2017 - Uttarakhand State Eligibility Test


The candidates must have Master’s Degree recognized by U.G.C. Candidates having Post Graduate diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University/Institute or Foreign degree/diploma/certificate awarded by any Foreign University/Institute should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/certificate with Master's degree of recognized Indian Universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi (www.aiuweb.org)


Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent from universities/institutions recognized by UGC and State Government are eligible for this Test. The OBC (Non- creamy layer)/SC/ST/PWD (persons with disability) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent are eligible for this Test


The PhD Degree holders who’s Master’s Level Examination had been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in U-SET


Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying master’s degree (Final year) exam and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test


However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for the post of Assistant Professor only after they have passed their Master’s degree examination with at least 55% marks (50% in case of OBC(Non- creamy layer)/SC/ST/PWD(persons with disability) category candidates)


Examination Scheme

The examination scheme of all the three papers in USET 2017 is given below. The questions asked in all the three papers will be multiple choice questions. Candidates must note down the exam pattern for the examination and should prepare accordingly

Paper will be PEN and PAPER BASED


Session 1: 100 Marks; No. of Question: 60, out of which 50 questions are to be attempted; Duration: 1¼ Hours (09.30 AM to 10.45 AM)

Session 2: 100 Marks; No. of Question: 50; 1¼ Hours (10.45 A.M. to 12.00 noon)

Session 3: 150 Marks; No. of Question: 70; Duration: 2½ Hours (01.30 PM to 4.00 PM)


USET 2017 Test Centers

Candidates going to appear in the examination will get seat allocated from the following cities:- Almora, Uttarkashi, Nainital, Srinagar, Garhwal, Pantnagar, Dehradun, Haldwani, Haridwar, Pithoragarh, Roorkee and Gopeshwar. There is no provision of requesting for the change in test centre. Therefore, candidates must refrain from making such requests


Syllabus of USET 2017

Paper-I- questions will be based on teaching/research aptitude/ reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness. There will be total 60 questions out of which 50 will be compulsory

Paper- 2– will have questions 50 objective type compulsory questions from the following subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks. There will be total 50 questions. Candidates have to attempt all questions in 1¼ hours.

Paper-3- will consist of 75 MCQs from the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks


Result Declaration

The result of USET 2017 will be announced on the official website of the university. Candidates will be declared qualified if they succeed to ascertain a slot in the top 06% of the appearing candidates. It will be mandatory to appear in all three papers and secure a minimum of 40% marks (General category) and a minimum of 35% marks (reserved category) in aggregate marks


Fee Details

The Examination Fee including Application Processing Fee is as under:

For General/OBC (Creamy Layer) Candidates: Rs.1000/- (Excluding Bank Charges, if any)

For SC/ST/PH/VH/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Candidates: Rs.600/- (Excluding Bank Charges, if any)

Candidates who are not domicile of Uttarakhand State have to pay Rs. 1000/- as Fee irrespective of their Category (SC/ST/PH/VH/OBC/GENERAL)

The Exam Fee should be paid Online (SBI portal) or by Cash through Challan at any Branch of State Bank of India (SBI). Fee submitted by any other mode like Money Order, Demand Draft, IPO etc. will be rejected

Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances



Candidate seeking admission to the U-SET must apply online at U-SET website www.usetonline.com with a link at the Kumaun University Website www.kunainital.ac.in


Before applying online for U-SET, the candidate must deposit the required fee through links available under ‘PAY FEE’ button of the website. This link will redirect the candidate to the website of State Bank of India for depositing the fee


The fee can be deposited online or by cash at any branch of State bank of India through Challan. The candidate would be asked to choose between both the options for fee payment by the Bank. Choose desired option and follow the instructions


When the candidate submits the fee, the Bank would ask for some personal details, like candidate’s name, Father's name, Date of Birth, Category, Mobile Number, Email address etc. All the information will be mandatory and would be transferred to the candidate’s U-SET record and cannot be modified later


So accuracy of all the information should be ensured by the candidate while depositing the fee


The candidate would be allowed to submit his/her online Application only after his/her fee details have been received from the Bank


USET 2017 Fee Payment Method

The selection mode of payment will be embedded in the application form only. The Examination fee can be paid by the candidates either using online medium i.e. Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card or using Offline medium i.e. by depositing the Cash through Challan at any SBI Branch


You are strongly advised to keep a print of the application form and the candidate’s copy of Challan/ fee receipt for future reference


Admit Card for USET 2017

USET 2017 Admit Card will be uploaded on the official website at usetonline.com. It will be issued by the Kumaun University and hence will also be available on the website of the university at www.kunainital.ac.in. Candidates may get the hall ticket in the 02nd or 03rd week of October 2017
