Tamilnadu State Eligibility Test (TNSET-2017) Notification

The notification for Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test TNSET 2017 for Assistant Professor has been announced. Mother Teresa Women's University is nominated as Nodal Agency for Tamil Nadu to conduct the TNSET-2017.

On behalf of UGC, Mother Teresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal (MTWU), Tamil Nadu announces holding of the State Eligibility Test (TNSET-2017) on 23rd April 2017 (Sunday) for determining the eligibility for Assistant Professor in Tamil Nadu universities and colleges.

MTWU will conduct TNSET-2017 in 25 subjects at 16 selected Centres of Exam spread across the state

Candidates who qualify the TNSET-2017 are governed by the recruitment rules and regulations stipulated for the Assistant Professors of concerned Universities/Colleges/Institutions (Govt. / Aided/Private) of Tamil Nadu State.

Important Dates

Submission of Online Application Form: 12th February 2017

Last Date for Applying Online 12th March 2017

Last Date for Applying Online with Late Fee Rs.300/- 19th March 2017

Date of Examination: 23rd April 2017

Date of Result: Will be made available on the website (www.tnsetexam2017mtwu.ac.in)

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have secured at least 55% of marks (without rounding off) for General Category and 50% for Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes (MBC)/Denotified Communities (DNC)/SC/ST/PWD-VH/PH, in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC New Delhi, in subjects like Science, Humanities (including languages), Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible to appear for this test

Candidates who have appeared (OR) will be appearing at the Master’s Degree (final year) exam and whose result is still awaited (OR) candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also appear for this test

However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and for those who clear the TNSET-2017 exam, eligibility certificate will be issued only on production of proof for having passed the Master’s degree or equivalent exam securing at least 55% marks for General Category & 50% for BC/MBC/DNC & SC/ST/PWD-VH/PH within two years from the date of TNSET Exam, failing which they will be treated as disqualified

The PhD degree holders whose Master’s Degree completed on or before 19th September 1991 (irrespective of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% marks for appearing in TNSET-2017 exam

Candidates shall appear for TNSET-2017 exam in their relevant subject of their post-graduation only, in case the candidate did not find the subject of his post graduation in the list of TNSET-2017 subjects, the candidate may appear in UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET, which is held twice a year

The competent authority must issue the community certificates submitted by the candidates; in case their certificate is found to be invalid by the TNSET-2017 agency at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for legal action

Age Limit

There is no upper age limit for applying for TNSET- 2017 examination

Scheme of Exam

The Test will consist of three papers. All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions and will be held on 23rd April 2017 (Sunday) in three separate sessions as under:

Paper I [100 Marks; 60 out of which 50 questions to be attempted; Duration: 1¼ Hrs (09.30 am to 10.45 am)]

Paper II [100 marks; 50 questions all are compulsory; Duration 1¼ Hrs (11.15 am to 12.30 pm)]

Paper III [150 marks; 50 questions all are compulsory; Duration 2½ Hrs (02.00 pm to 04.30 pm)]

English & Tamil Medium: Chemical Sciences, Commerce, Computer Science & Application, Economics, Education, Electronics, Geography, Hindi, History, Home Science, Journalism & Mass Communication, Law, Life Sciences, Management, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Political Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences; English Medium: English, Sanskrit, Tamil & Telugu

Exam Fee

Candidates applying for TN State Eligibility Test 2017 need to pay the Exam Fee through Credit/ Debit Card or e-Challan; the payment should be deposited in the State Bank of India (SBI). The fee for various categories is mentioned below:

For General Candidates: Rs.1500/-

For BC/MBC/DNC Candidates: Rs.1250/-

For SC/ST/PWD-VI, HI, PH Candidates: Rs.500/-

The candidates are required to check the status of fee payment at TNSET website (www.tnpsc.gov.in) and if the status is ‘OK’, the candidate will be able to take the printout of Confirmation Page

After filling all the details for applying online for TNSET2017, the candidate will have the option to select the mode of payment of examination fee either by credit/debit card or net-banking

How to Apply

Candidate seeking admission to the Test (TNSET-2017) must apply online only on the website: www.tnsetexam2017mtwu.ac.in

Before applying Online, the candidates must possess the scanned images as below: (i) Passport size photograph in JPG format of minimum 4kb to 40 kb. The dimension of the photograph should be 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (height); (ii) Signature in JPG format of minimum 4kb to 30 Kb; the dimension of the signature should be 3.5 cm (width) x 1.5 cm (height)

After filling all the details for applying, online for TNSET-2017 the candidates have to select the option of payment of examination fee either by credit/debit card or through e-challan generated during the online filling of the application form

Please note that Fee submitted through any other mode like Money Order, Demand Draft, IPO etc. will be summarily rejected

Admission Card

It may be noted that the Admission Card will be uploaded on the website www.tnsetexam2017mtwu.ac.in
No Admission Cards will be sent to the candidates by post. The Candidates should download their Admission Cards from the above website to ascertain their Venue of the Exam as mentioned in the Admission Card and appear in the exam only at the designated Exam Centre
No Candidate will be allowed to appear at the Examination Centre other than that allotted to him/her in the Admission Card
