TNSET 2018 for Assistant Professor


The notification for Tamilnadu State Eligibility Test TNSET 2018 for Assistant Professor has been announced. Mother Teresa Women's University is nominated as Nodal Agency for Tamil Nadu to conduct the TNSET-2018.


On behalf of UGC, Mother Teresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal (MTWU), Tamil Nadu announces holding of the State Eligibility Test (TNSET-2018) on 04th March 2018 (Sunday) for determining the eligibility for Assistant Professor in Tamil Nadu universities and colleges.


MTWU will conduct TNSET-2018 in 26 subjects at 11 selected Centres of Exam spread across the state


Candidates who qualify the TNSET-2018 are governed by the recruitment rules and regulations stipulated for the Assistant Professors of concerned Universities/Colleges/Institutions (Govt. / Aided/Private) of Tamil Nadu State.


Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have secured at least 55% of marks (without rounding off) for General/OBC (belonging to Creamy Layer) Category and 50% for OBC(belonging to Non – Creamy Layer)/ SC, ST, Persons with Disability (PwD-VI/HI/PH), in Master’s Degree or equivalent exam from Universities/Institutions recognized by UGC New Delhi, in subjects like Sciences, Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Sciences, Library & Information Science, are eligible to appear for this examination

Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing at the Master Degree (final year) exam and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also appear for this exam. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and for those who clear the TNSET 2018 examination will have to qualify within two years from the date of TNSET 2018 Exam, failing which they will be treated as disqualified

Candidates shall appear for TNSET 2018 Exam in their relevant subject of their Post-Graduation only. In case the Candidate did not find the subject of their Post-Graduation in the list of TNSET 2018 subjects, the Candidate may appear in UGC-NET/CSIR UGC NET which is held twice a year

Candidates should note that their candidature is provisional. The mere fact that an admission card has been issued to a candidate will not imply that the TNSET 2018 authority has accepted his/her candidature. Candidates may note that candidature will be deemed final, only upon verification of eligibility conditions


Age Limit

There is no upper age limit for applying for TNSET 2018 examination


Scheme of Exam

The Test will consist of three papers. All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions and will be held on 04th March 2018 (Sunday) in three separate sessions as under:

Paper I [100 Marks; 50 out of which 50 questions to be attempted; Duration: 1¼ Hrs (09.30 am to 10.45 am)]
Paper II [100 marks; 50 questions all are compulsory; Duration 1¼ Hrs (11.15 am to 12.30 pm)]
Paper III [150 marks; 50 questions all are compulsory; Duration 2½ Hrs (02.00 pm to 04.30 pm)]

Exam Fee TNSET 2018
Candidates applying for TN State Eligibility Test 2018 need to pay the Exam Fee through Credit/ Debit Card or e-Challan; the payment should be deposited in the State Bank of India (SBI). The fee for various categories is mentioned below:
For General Candidates: Rs.1500/-
For BC/MBC/DNC Candidates: Rs.1250/-
For SC/ST/PWD-VI, HI, PH Candidates: Rs.500/-

The candidates are required to check the status of fee payment at TNSET website (www.tnpsc.gov.in) and if the status is ‘OK’, the candidate will be able to take the printout of Confirmation Page

After filling all the details for applying online for TNSET-2018, the candidate will have the option to select the mode of payment of examination fee either by credit/debit card or net-banking


Application TNSET 2018

Candidate seeking admission to the Test (TNSET-2018) must apply online only on the websitewww.tnsetexam2018mtwu.in

Before applying Online, the candidates must possess the scanned images as below: (i) Passport size photograph in JPG format of minimum 4kb to 40 kb. The dimension of the photograph should be 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (height); (ii) Signature in JPG format of minimum 4kb to 30 Kb; the dimension of the signature should be 3.5 cm (width) x 1.5 cm (height)

After filling all the details for applying, online for TNSET-2018 the candidates have to select the option of payment of examination fee either by credit/debit card or through e-challan generated during the online filling of the application form

Please note that Fee submitted through any other mode like Money Order, Demand Draft, IPO etc. will be summarily rejected


Hall Ticket

It may be noted that the Hall Ticket will be uploaded on the website www.tnsetexam2018mtwu.in. No Hall Ticket will be sent to the candidates by post

The candidates should download their Hall Tickets from the above website to ascertain their venue of the Exam. No Candidate will be allowed to appear at the Exam Centre other than that allotted to him/her in the Hall Ticket
